Speech Title: Digital Image Processing for In-vivo Skin Capacitive Contact Imaging

Abstract: Capacitive contact imaging, originally developed for biometric applications, has shown potential in measuring skin properties including skin hydration and skin texture. Our previous studies showed it also can be used for solvent penetration measurements, skin damage assessments, as well as hair and nail water content measurements, despite the low water content. The aim of this study is to develop new digital image processing techniques for in-vivo skin capacitive contact imaging measurements. In this paper, we will present our latest work on developing new digital image processing techniques based on grey level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), cross-correlation, Kmeans, non-linear regressions and Deep Learning. Results show that through image processing, we are able to extract extra information from the skin capacitive images, such as skin surface uniformity, skin solvent penetration, and skin damages. We will first present the theoretical background and then followed by experimental results.
